Information Day at Mainz University of Applied Sciences

Information Day at Mainz University of Applied Sciences

After two years exclusively online, Information Day at Mainz University of Applied Sciences was held in person again for the first time, and was very well received. Various digital features complemented the on-site event. A total of around 1,000 interested participants accepted the university’s invitation. A particularly pleasing aspect was that after a long period of covid restrictions, the campus was filled with vibrant life in the most glorious spring weather.

With the motto Discover your possibilities, the three schools of Design, Engineering, and Business introduced themselves in a very communicative way with a variety of hybrid formats.

After the welcome address by the president, Professor Dr. Susanne Weissman, the audience had the opportunity to attend exciting presentations by the various schools in the auditorium – for example, on the potential of augmented reality in geoinformatics, on the revitalization of vacant properties using the example of Mainz’s Neustadt district, and on how to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Communication Design. Active students also provided insights into the work of the AStA, the student council, and the student parliament.

Anyone who followed the colored markings in orange, magenta, green, or white to the various exhibition areas and rooms of the departments encountered even more exciting things. There were architectural models to examine, new perspectives to explore with VR goggles, and extensive information about the dual and work-integrated degree programs in business studies. Prospective students always had the opportunity to talk directly with students and professors here about the numerous opportunities at the university. The three degree programs offered by the School of Design – Interior Architecture, Communication Design and Time-Based Media – also invited students to take part in portfolio reviews.

Food trucks offered snacks and coffee in the campus courtyard, and many visitors, along with students and faculty, took advantage of the opportunity and the beautiful weather to continue conversations over a salad, a burger, or a waffle on a stick outside.
