General Information

Mainz University of Applied Sciences is establishing a sustainable culture for high-quality founding entrepreneurs and business start-ups in the university city of Mainz, which exploits and develops the various potential in the context of the university.

The founding campus "meins" (Mainz for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Nachfolge (Succession) and Start-up) brings together all start-up-related institutions, players, offers and services of Mainz University of Applied Sciences.

Start-up Office Mainz

Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Johannes Gutenberg University and Mainz University Medical Center established a joint cross-university start-up office, intended to develop into an integral component of the universities, with the aim of transferring potential with a start-up affinity from the fields of science and research more strongly into academic spin-offs and start-ups. The Start-up Office in Mainz acts as a central point of contact, with a representative office at each of the three locations, in order to ensure continuity over time.

More than 40,000 students, 4,000 scientists and 800 doctoral candidates, as well as employees and alumni of the Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Johannes Gutenberg University and Mainz University Medical Center now benefit from a joint cross-university start-up office.

The cross-university Start-up Office in Mainz was financed until June 2015 by the Ministry of Education, Science, Further Education and Culture (MBWWK) in Rhineland-Palatinate and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Those interested in a start-up and potential start-up founders receive a wide range of information and are advised on their individual questions regarding targeted university spin-offs, general business start-ups, self-employment and/or company takeovers as well as EXIST funding opportunities. The offer covers start-up topics from sensitization to qualification with a focus on consulting, support and coaching.

The new cross-university Start-up Office acts as a network hub in close cooperation with existing external institutions and the transfer offices of the universities. In terms of start-up theory and research, it is scientifically accompanied by the iuh - Institute for Entrepreneurship of Mainz University of Applied Sciences with its director Prof. Dr. Elmar D. Konrad.
