Industry 4.0

"A generally accepted definition of the term Industry 4.0 does not exist, but the topic itself is currently a high priority subject for many companies, research centers, and universities. Based on a literature review, the paper provides an overview of the core components of Industry 4.0, a definition of Industry 4.0 and delineates the six design principles for its implementation. In addition, selected technologies and use cases are described. The objective is to give an overview of the topic and support practitioners in familiarizing themselves with Industry 4.0. Finally, there is an assessment of whether Industry 4.0 is a revolution or an evolution."
