The Economics Forum, formerly the Friends of the Department of Economics, is updating and revitalizing its organizational structure. This was unanimously approved by the general membership meeting, which took place on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Weinhaus Michel in Mainz. “Alumnity Wirtschaft Hochschule Mainz e.V.” is the new name. “Alumnity” is the network connecting the Department of Economics with its alumni, department members, and cooperation partners. This establishes a link between the alumni, the Department of Economics, and the city of Mainz. Stefan Poetini, who stood in for Chairwoman Claudia Huberti (who was ill), presided over the general meeting. Frank Ehresmann presented the updated concept developed by the Association Optimization Working Group. In the future, Alumnity aims to reach out to students as well as graduates. “After all, they are the alumni of tomorrow,” said Ehresmann. Students can join the association as guests through a free membership. In addition, the association also aims to more fully integrate members of the Department of Economics and intensify collaboration with partner organizations. Under the motto “Let’s get started!”, students enrolled in the “Event Management” elective organized the general meeting. Getting to know one another, exchanging ideas, building networks, or simply having a relaxed chat: The association’s members were able to do all of this after the meeting during a wine tasting in the vaulted cellar of Weinhaus Michel in Mainz. Helgard Frey, a former student of the Department of Economics and the Rheinhessen Wine Queen, hosted the event. As a token of appreciation, Stefan Poetini presented her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. "It was a very successful evening," the association members agreed. And the students? "We’re delighted that, after months of planning, the evening was so well received," said the event management team.
