Stefan Eckert Visits Alumnity e.V.

On November 17, 2016, Alumnity e.V. hosted the first lecture in the “Alumnity Presents” series at Café Raab in Mainz-Gonsenheim.
After opening remarks by Chairwoman Claudia Huberti, café owner Michael Raab (photo below) highlighted the professional career of his former college classmate. Both men had earned degrees in business administration from what was then the University of Applied Sciences. While Michael Raab started his own advertising and communications agency, Komdes, Stefan Eckert’s (photo above) path led him into the world of baby food. He is now the managing director of Humana GmbH and has earned a global reputation as an expert in baby food.
Drawing on his wealth of experience, Stefan Eckert spoke on the topic:“How do I hold my own in the market?” In a friendly, relaxed, and authentic manner, he also spoke about his leadership style and provided the students in attendance with plenty of tips for job interviews and valuable advice on how to stay true to themselves in their professional lives.
To round out the event, his former professors from his university days, Prof. Dr. Diehl and Prof. Dr. Mehlhorn, congratulated him on his professional success and on the fact that he has remained so down-to-earth, friendly, and open-minded throughout. Following this successful kickoff to the event series, the board is motivated to feature additional notable figures once a year.

Alumnity is getting together!

On October 6, 2016, Alumnity held its second get-together of 2016, this time at the Grün-Weiß Tennis Club in Mainz-Gonsenheim.
Located right next to the former site of Mainz University of Applied Sciences, members took the opportunity to discuss a wide variety of topics over good food and a glass of wine.

General Meeting

On September 9, 2016 , Alumnity’s general meeting took place at Café Citadelle in Mainz. The approximately twenty guests first enjoyed a guided tour of the citadel, during which they were treated to numerous insights and anecdotes about the history of the city of Mainz and the citadel. The tour through the underground passages of the Drusus Bastion proved particularly impressive. The general meeting then began with a champagne reception. During the meeting, the board reviewed the activities of the past year and outlined plans for the coming year. Following this, the general meeting elected a new board for the next two years. Peter Calovini, who had served as secretary of Alumnity for many years and had previously held the same position at the Economic Forum, did not run for re-election as secretary for professional reasons. He was bid farewell by Claudia Huberti with heartfelt thanks and the presentation of a parting gift. Prof. Dr. Dietrich Goldenbaum, long-time chair of the Economic Forum, subsequently treasurer, and most recently a member of the association’s board, also did not run for another term. In recognition of his commitment to the association, which went far beyond his mere role on the board, the board appointed him honorary chair.   The new board is composed as follows:

Chair:

Claudia Huberti

Vice Chair:

Stefan Poetini

Secretary:

Nina Macher

Vice Secretary:

Guido Seibel

Treasurer:

Joachim von Trützschler

Deputy Treasurer:

Thomas Herzog

Member:

Christian Bernhart

Frank Ehresmann

Erhard Kriese

Christian Nagel

After the regular general meeting concluded, the participants sat together in a relaxed atmosphere and took the opportunity to network extensively on various topics.

New Year's Brunch

On January 17, 2016, the Alumnity members welcomed the New Year with a glass of sparkling wine and a brunch together at Café “7Grad” in Mainz. In a cozy atmosphere, they exchanged news about the university, the association, and the region. Refreshed, the “Alumnity” members then gladly accepted the offer of a guided tour of the Georg Forster exhibition at the Kunsthalle Mainz. Dr. Annette Emde led the tour of the current exhibition and skillfully inspired her audience with enthusiasm for Georg Forster and his work. Overall, the New Year’s brunch was a successful start to the association’s 2016 year, for which the Alumnity Board has set ambitious goals. At the request of those in attendance, this event will be offered again next year.
