2023 in Review

Graduation Ceremony 2023

At the academic graduation ceremony on Saturday, November 18, we had the honor of presenting the Kurt Dörr Prize—worth 500€ and awarded for exceptional dedication—to Lola Coenen, Tanja Fuchs, Christine Held, and Sonja Schloss of the Examination Management Team in the Department of Economics. We thank them for their expert guidance of the students, which is characterized by a high level of professional expertise, and for their exceptional personal dedication during a complex system transition.

In addition, we provided financial support to other aspects of the event and were represented with a booth where we were able to chat with the newly graduated alumni and promote membership in our organization.

"Alumnity Presents" 2023

On Tuesday, October 24, we held this year’s “Alumnity Presents” event, featuring delicious pretzels and drinks, in the university’s Senate Hall.

Three of our members gave presentations on the topic “Graduates Share Insights from Their Daily Work Lives.” Afterward, and throughout the event, there was a lively discussion, and all participants also shared stories about their own student and professional lives.

Thank you for the wonderful evening!

"Alumnity Reunites" 2023

Our regular get-together, “Alumnity Meets,” took place on May 9 at Weyer’s Erntehof.

For those who aren’t familiar with “Alumnity Meets”: The gathering offers our members the opportunity to come together for a social evening to get to know one another, network, and catch up.

Once again, it was a very enjoyable gathering and a wonderful evening—thanks to everyone who attended!

Business Day 2023

As it does every year, Alumnity e.V. participated in the Business Department’s Career Day. On May 3, our board and members had many great conversations with students at Mainz University of Applied Sciences and promoted the association and its free membership.

2023 General Meeting

This year’s Alumnity General Meeting took place on Friday, April 21. Beforehand, there was a fantastic mystery tour through Mainz’s Old Town with author Dr. Peter Jackob, who read excerpts from his mystery novel “Helau, Schack!” and shared stories about Mainz. The tour received a lot of positive feedback from the participants.

Following that, the general meeting began at Weinhaus Wilhelmi. Our chairwoman, Claudia Huberti, gave a 10-year retrospective on the many innovations, events, and initiatives that have taken place during her tenure. This was followed by the election of the executive board. The position of secretary will now be held by Willy Bücker (student). The former secretary, Jan Spacht (alumnus), has now moved to the position of deputy secretary. Lucie Fabische (student) was elected as the new board member. We would like to take this opportunity to thank students Felicitas Bürger and Fabian Lotz for their many years of service on the board! We deeply regret that Claudia Huberti did not stand for reelection as chairperson for personal reasons. Thanks to her, as the driving force behind Alumnity e.V., we were able to achieve a great deal, for which we thank her sincerely.

2023 New Year's Gathering

Our annual New Year's gathering took place on January 29, 2023. We started with breakfast together at Maxim Restaurant. Afterward, we headed to the Mainz State Museum. There, we enjoyed an engaging guided tour of the exhibition “Decline or New Beginning?—Mainz and Cologne Between Antiquity and the Middle Ages.” It was a successful gathering, as the participants also reported!
