Foreign higher education entrance qualification
Application via uni-assist
If you have obtained your university degree abroad, you must check to what extent it is equivalent to the German higher education entrance qualification for a master's degree program. Please apply via uni-assist. The nationality of the applicants is irrelevant.
If your foreign higher education entrance qualification is recognized as equivalent to the German one and sufficient German language skills are proven, you will be admitted to the study place allocation procedure.
German citizens with a foreign university degree do not have to provide proof of German language proficiency if they have a German university entrance qualification (A-Level).
- You have already obtained recognition of your foreign university degree in Germany with a stated grade point average.
- You would like to apply to the consecutive master's degree program International Business (M.A. IB full-time) and have obtained your first university degree qualifying for a profession in a country belonging to the EU.
- You would like to apply to the continuing education master's degree programs International Business (M.Sc. IB) and/or Taxation.
Uni-Assist fee regulations
Please note that your application will only be processed by uni-assist once the fee has been paid.

Foreign quota
The following rule applies to degree programs with restricted admission (NC):
A special quota of up to five percent of the fixed admission number applies to the admission of foreign nationals or stateless persons who are not treated as equivalent to German citizens. The current admission numbers are published in the Mainz University of Applied Sciences newsletter.
If you belong to the group of persons who are considered equivalent to German citizens within the meaning of Section 2 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Study Place Allocation Ordinance (StPLVO), you must provide evidence of this equivalence in the form of suitable documents by the application deadline. Suitable documents within the meaning of § 2 No. 3 with regard to spouses and life partners include the marriage certificate or a certificate of registration of a civil partnership, as well as confirmation of registration from the relevant local authority and proof of employment (employment contract). At the time of application, a simple copy of all these documents must be submitted. If you are admitted and wish to study at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, these documents must be submitted in officially certified form for enrollment.
Please note: Subsequent claims pursuant to § 2 of the Study Place Allocation Ordinance after the application deadline will not be accepted.
NC-free degree programs are not affected by this regulation.
Confirmation of application
If you are admitted, you may need a residence permit (e.g., visa, residence permit, etc.).
Experience has shown that the application process and subsequent processing until final approval can often take several weeks or even up to several months. You will receive a confirmation of application after submitting your application via the uni-assist portal.
The regulations governing applicant confirmation are laid down in the Residence Act and the General Administrative Regulations for the Residence Act. It is possible to apply for a visa with the applicant confirmation in accordance with No. 16.1.1.1 in conjunction with 16.1.1.3 of the General Administrative Regulations for the Residence Act of October 26, 2009.
Please note: Experience has shown that some countries unfortunately do not support the above regulation. You should therefore contact the relevant authorities in your home country in good time.
