Financing options

Studying abroad always means an additional financial burden. On average, monthly costs of approx. €800 to €1,000 can be expected at the foreign university's location. A scholarship can only ever be a subsidy, and should be applied for at an early stage at the respective funding institutions.

PROMOS Scholarship Program

The PROMOS scholarship program is aimed at excellent German and non-German students enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at Mainz University of Applied Sciences with the aim of obtaining a university degree. In the Engineering and Business schools, applications for individual scholarships for study and practice stays abroad, as well as the preparation of theses abroad for a stay of max. one semester can be submitted. Students from the School of Design are only supported in group travel.

GOAL Fellowships

The Global Outreach through Action and Leadership (GOAL) project at Mainz University of Applied Sciences offers students from all departments the opportunity to spend a semester at one of five partner universities in Chile, India, Macao, Taiwan, or the USA. Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the project will award scholarships in 2026 and 2027 to students who are actively engaged in sustainability and contribute to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The scholarship includes a one-time travel allowance of up to €2,250 and a monthly stipend of up to €550 to support living expenses. The exact amount varies depending on the host country. For more information about the application process and the partner universities, visit the GOAL website: https://hs-mz.de/goal
