The steps of the application process with verified foreign academic qualifications
If you would like to study at a university in Germany, you will need a higher education entrance qualification.
Entrance qualifications acquired abroad must be examined to determine the extent of equivalency with German higher education entrance qualifications. Provided that your higher education entrance qualification is recognized as being equivalent to the German and sufficient knowledge of the German language can be verified, you will be admitted to the university placement allocation procedure.
All applicants who did not acquire their higher education entrance qualification in Germany or at a school with German Abitur exam regulations must send their applications to uni-assist (see address on the right). This includes, among others, the following diplomas: A-levels, high school diploma and Baccalaureat.
Please note that VDP (preliminary review documentation) is not sufficient for the application.
To whom does this provision not apply?
- Students of partner universities who would like to study at Mainz University of Applied Sciences as part of an exchange program
- Students who have successfully passed an assessment test at a preparatory course and possess the recognition of their foreign education qualifications with the grade point average indicated
- Applicants who have already had recognition of their transcripts issued in Germany including a grade point average converted to the German system
The citizenship of applicants is irrelevant.
