Symposium on “Artificial Intelligence”
Under the title “AI@HS Mainz,” an exciting, interdisciplinary exchange on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) took place on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the LUX Pavilion at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. As part of a series of events organized by the Rhineland-Palatinate AI Alliance, the event was well attended, with over 70 people in the audience.
Eleven presentations by professors, research assistants, and doctoral candidates highlighted the broad spectrum of AI applications. Specific aspects of the presented projects were discussed in depth during lively Q&A sessions. During the fishbowl discussion before the lunch break, topics such as tech giants, AI innovations, and national competitiveness were addressed.
“The university-wide AI Symposium demonstrated once again that AI plays a central role at Mainz University of Applied Sciences in all three faculties—both in research and teaching—and is approached from an interdisciplinary perspective,” summarized Prof. Dr. Anett Mehler-Bicher, Vice President for Research and Transfer. This is evidenced by the large number of speakers who were immediately willing to present their current projects at the AI Symposium. From the perspective of the Rhineland-Palatinate AI Alliance as well, it was an all-around successful event.
