We at the AStA are convinced that the bicycle is the fastest—and above all, the most sustainable—mode of transportation in Mainz. That’s why we’ve negotiated special rates for you to use meinRad, the bike-sharing system operated by Mainzer Mobilität.
Currently, approximately 1,200 bikes are available around the clock at over 200 stations in Mainz, Wiesbaden, Budenheim, and Ingelheim. Here’s how easy it is:
- Download the “meinRad” app for Android or iOS.
- → mainzermobilitaet.qr1.at/meinrad
- Register in the app and verify your information.
- Rent a bike at the nearest station.
- Start cycling!
Simple and straightforward
Rides are billed in units. The first unit is always 60 minutes; each additional unit is 30 minutes. All students in Mainz* can rent bikes at a discounted rate with meinRad:
Either in the “Mainzer Studis Basis” price tier—where each unit costs just 50 cents—or in the “Mainzer Studis Komfort” price tier for a preferential annual fee of 36 €. With this tier, the first 60 minutes of each ride are free. Each additional half-hour costs just 0.50 €.
* For holders of the semester ticket from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz, or the European Management School Mainz.
Fully flexible
Need to park your bike for a bit? No problem! Thanks to the app and the electric lock on the bike, you can safely park it temporarily even outside of stations. Please note: The rental period continues to run while the bike is parked!
