Cyberattack at Mainz University of Applied Sciences

IT systems completely shut down as a security precaution

Mainz University of Applied Sciences has become the target of a cyberattack. For security reasons, all IT systems were completely shut down on Monday, 24 November 2025.

As a result, Mainz University of Applied Sciences is currently only very limited in its email availability. This affects all email addresses ending in hs-mainz.de. Incoming messages are being delivered, but staff and teaching personnel are not yet able to read or process them across the board. No automatic receipt confirmations are being sent, and no out-of-office replies are being generated.

In-person classes will continue.

The IT services are currently analyzing the threat and the potential damage. Law enforcement is involved. No information is currently available regarding the duration of the disruption.

The crisis team, which was quickly established, is working to ensure that students and staff at Mainz University of Applied Sciences can continue working.

Students and staff will be kept up-to-date via the Campus2Go app and the central social media channels Instagram and LinkedIn.
