A look back at Info Day 2025

Mainz University of Applied Sciences threw open its doors for this year’s Info Day on May 24, 2025. Over 1,200 visitors came to the booths in the Magistrale, the technology lab, lectures in the lecture halls, and the library to find out more about the university’s degree programs. Over 600 other prospective students joined them digitally.

The stage program in the auditorium was once again a special highlight, with students and lecturers from all three schools presenting their current projects in informal discussions with moderator Julia Schneider. The focus was particularly on the topics of internationalization, digitalization, and sustainability. The entire program was also streamed live on YouTube to enable those who were not present to find out more about the university. New this year was the five-hour live stream on Instagram, hosted by students from the Digital Media degree program.

In her welcoming remarks, University President Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman emphasized the importance of the regional roots and practical orientation of Mainz University of Applied Sciences. She emphasized that the university not only contributes to academic education and research, but also significantly to the economic and social development of the Rhine-Main region. Students benefit from these close ties by gaining practical experience and actively shaping the future of the city of Mainz and its surroundings.

The diverse full-day program included lectures and workshops on highly contemporary topics such as climate-neutral construction and sustainable supply chains. The portfolio consultations offered by the Interior Architecture, Time-Based Media, and Communication Design degree programs were particularly popular. In the lab, visitors had the opportunity to experience the CAVE, a unique virtual space developed specifically for the university. Eye-catchers in front of the university building included the Mainz Energy House built by students and the multimedia-equipped bus from the “Mainz leuchtet” project. This year’s university carnival float, “Meerwert – Helau,” stood in the inner courtyard.

In the library, visitors had the chance to talk to students at the Studi-Talk organized by the School of Business or take a guided tour with library director Ivana Oruc to get to know the modern workspaces and the wide range of specialized literature available.

The Info Day at Mainz University of Applied Sciences was once again a great success. With a broad-ranging program and numerous opportunities for exchange, the event offered valuable insights into the range of degree programs and projects at the university.
