Welcome to IYPA!

At IYPA, our focus is on supporting you in your daily studies and during your transition into the professional world.

What is IYPA?

IYPA is a support program initiated by the International Office and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). It helps our international full-time students and graduates explore opportunities in the German labor market—especially in the Rhine-Main region—and supports them in developing the key skills needed for a successful career start. In short: we strengthen you during your studies and help pave your way into professional life.

To support you in the best possible way, we offer numerous courses, events, and advisory formats throughout your studies. Whether academic workshops or networking with professionals—we help you build a strong professional profile.

How does IYPA support you?

On your academic journey:

To help you master the challenges you may face as an international student, we provide an additional support structure in the following areas.

Deepen your German language skills in a variety of courses – for example “Applying in German,” “Case Study – Project Work in German,” or practical training sessions on presenting and discussing. Courses are offered during the semester as well as during the semester break.

Improve your skills in academic writing and presenting in German and learn essential methods for academic work. This will help you successfully complete your term papers, project work, or final thesis.

Take the opportunity to connect with fellow IYPA students across disciplines. Through various peer-to-peer activities, we offer you the chance to exchange ideas, practice your German in a relaxed atmosphere, get to know the local culture, and build new friendships. In short: connect, learn, settle in, and grow together.

On your professional path:

Take part in our workshops in cooperation with the Employment Agency Mainz to gain insights into job searching and the application process in Germany. Join an application training that shows you how to search for jobs effectively, prepare professional application documents, and what to expect in job interviews.

For specific professional situations, we prepare you to meet company representatives with confidence and professionalism. We also advise you on how to present your strengths and competencies effectively for entering the job market. As a special offer, we also provide a professional application photo shoot.

As part of IYPA, we organize various career events to connect you with experienced alumni, companies, and institutions in the Rhine-Main region. Our formats IYPA Career Talk (online) and IYPA Career Visit (in person) give you the opportunity to get to know companies, gain insights into different corporate cultures, and engage directly with company representatives and alumni.

This allows you to discover which companies suit you and to meet potential employers for internships, working student positions, thesis projects, and ultimately your career start.
