Symposium on Artificial intelligence

KI@HS Mainz was the title of an exciting, interdisciplinary exchange on the subject of artificial intelligence (AI) that took place on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the LUX Pavilion of Mainz University of Applied Sciences. As part of a series of events organized by the AI Alliance Rhineland-Palatinate, the event was well attended with over 70 people in the audience.

The broad spectrum of AI applications became clear in eleven presentations by professors, research assistant,s and doctoral candidates. Specific aspects of the projects presented were discussed in depth in lively Q&A sessions. During the fishbowl discussion before the lunch break, questions were raised about technology giants, AI innovations, and national competitiveness.

“The university-wide AI symposium demonstrated once again that AI plays a central role at Mainz University of Applied Sciences in all three schools, in both research and teaching, and is approached from an interdisciplinary perspective,” summed up Professor Anett Mehler-Bicher, Vice President for Research and Transfer. The large number of speakers who immediately agreed to present their current projects at the AI Symposium speaks for itself. From the perspective of the AI Alliance Rhineland-Palatinate, it was also a thoroughly successful event.
