Namaste from India

Prof. Dr. Daniel Porath strengthens German-Indian university partnerships

Prof. Dr. Daniel Porath is currently in Bangalore – not for sightseeing, but for a new German-Indian research project. Together with Dr. Dilipchandra Seetharam from Christ University, he is working on qualitative data collection. “The idea came about last year when we launched the double degree program,” he explains. And this immediately gave rise to further ideas: starting in the coming winter semester, Dr. Seetharam will also be working with us in Mainz as a lecturer, co-teaching and supervising qualitative research projects.

The double degree program with Christ University is a complete success: in its second year, the demand from the Indian side was already significantly higher than the available spots in Mainz!
In addition to research, the agenda also included networking: Professor Porath visited our other partner universities in India – Parul University in Vadodara and Symbiosis University in Pune. There were intensive discussions with university management, colleagues and, of course, exchange students. “The partnerships in India have developed very positively in recent years, but we can't rest on our laurels because developments here are very dynamic.” As a result, plans have also been made for the future.

Dr. Porath was also active in the area of teaching: He offered lectures on quantitative research methodology at all of the universities. The exchange with colleagues afterwards was particularly exciting. “The challenges are similar to ours, but the approaches are often surprisingly different.”

His conclusion: Mainz University of Applied Sciences students and lecturers are very welcome at all three universities! The green, modern campuses offer perfect learning conditions, and the surrounding area has a lot to offer as well: from vibrant cities and cultural treasures to an exciting network of German companies. “India is becoming even more important in the global economy – anyone who studies here will gain valuable international experience and stand out on the job market.”
