Project with Mainz 05

The young generation is put to the test

Project launch: 30 students from the School of Business set off with their lecturers Prof. Dr. Tobias Walter and David Zakoth to visit the nearby Mewa Arena and gain some insight into all aspects of being a fan of 1. FSV Mainz 05. The students learned about the opportunities and challenges of bringing a game day experience to the fans as well as to those who are not yet fans.

As part of the project in the Design Thinking for SMEs module, the students are investigating which measures like social media or digitalization influence young target groups and identifying areas in which there is still a need to catch up, as well as which important youth issues need to be kept in mind over the years to come. In the coming weeks, the expectations of the young target group will be compared with the actual offers and experiences at 1. FSV Mainz 05, both in everyday life and in connection with game days, and creative ideas for improvements will be developed.

In the weeks ahead, there will be more meetings with club officials, including a visit to a Bundesliga game day.
