The Institute of Architecture (ai-mainz) focuses on the study of architecture and information technologies in the fields of historical building research, monument preservation and architectural mediation, as well as in the areas of design, building construction and construction management.

The Institute for Spatial Information and Surveying Technology (i3mainz) deals with research and development tasks as well as technology and knowledge transfer in connection with spatial data. The respective projects are carried out in close cooperation with partners from business, science, society and public administration.

The Designlabor Gutenberg (IDG) at Mainz University of Applied Sciences promotes research, development, and knowledge transfer in Communication Design. Rooted in the typographic legacy of Johannes Gutenberg and oriented towards the future, the institute fosters critical engagement with contemporary design issues. Through collaborative research projects, public events, and academic programs, the IDG makes design research visible and contributes to the broader discourse on design in society.

The Institute for Applied Management in the Social and Health Economy (ifams) is dedicated to the research and development of economic concepts for institutions and companies from associations and organizations in the social economy as well as for public administrations. It offers cooperation, transfer and consulting in connection with the development and application of operational and strategic aspects of corporate management.

The Institute for Media Design (img) is a research facility of the Department of Design at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The results and experiences of the research work are incorporated into the practical projects of the institute as well as into teaching and form the basis of the consulting services offered by the institute.

The Institute of Real Estate and Construction Management (IREC) deals with innovative research and development tasks in the management, planning, construction and operation of construction and real estate projects. The focus here is on technology transfer and knowledge exchange between applied research, construction practice and the real estate industry.

The Institute of Innovative Structures (iS-mainz) conducts basic and applied research in the field of sandwich construction and is expanding its activities to include lightweight steel construction, structural dynamics, timber construction and material and design development in the construction industry.

The Institute for Entrepreneurial Action (iuh) is dedicated to research, teaching and further education in the important fields of entrepreneurship and business start-ups. In particular, questions relating to business start-ups, business planning, financing options, cultural and creative entrepreneurship and many other aspects relating to start-ups and self-employment are the subject of research using quantitative and qualitative studies.
