TOEFL iBT
(Test of English as a Foreign Language – internet-based test)
The TOEFL iBT tests how proficient you are in the four language skills of reading, listening comprehension, speaking and writing in English and whether you are able to use these skills in everyday university life. The language test serves as a standardized, internationally recognized and objective basis for assessment. It is intended for school students, university students and other interested individuals wishing to pursue an international degree program or a postgraduate master's degree program at German or foreign universities.Section | Time limit | Questions | Tasks |
Reading | 35 minutes | 20 questions | Read passages and respond to questions. |
Listening | 36 minutes | 28 questions | Answer questions about brief lectures or classroom discussions. |
Speaking | 16 minutes | 4 tasks | Talk about a familiar topic and discuss material you read and heard. |
Writing | 29 minutes | 2 tasks | Read a passage, listen to a recording and type your response. State and support an opinion in an online classroom discussion. |
Your results will be available via your ETS account within 4-8 working days.
