Martin Telwak

Who are you, what company do you currently work for and what are your responsibilities?

I am Martin Telwak and I have a permanent position as a Project Coordinator at Bertrand, a supplier to Porsche. In this position, I am responsible for the various production processes of a vehicle. Since I have always dreamed of working in the automotive industry, this opportunity is like a dream come true. In 2017, during an interview for an internship at Porsche, I heard the phrase "It doesn't have to stay a dream." Since then, these words have been stuck in my mind and stand for the fact that a dream, no matter how seemingly unrealistic, can actually come true in the end.

What did you major in during your bachelor’s degree?

I am a qualified engineer in the automotive industry. Parallel to that, I studied vehicle mechanics and transportation design. It was always my aspiration to work in the automotive industry and to get to know all the production areas such as the mechanics, manufacturing and design of a car. I also started learning German when I was 16, because I already knew back then that I wanted to work in Germany one day.

Why did you choose the Maestría Argentino-Alemana?

Business studies are needed in many professions. As an engineer, you have more technical skills. To get a better insight into business strategies and business management, I wanted to pursue the Maestría Argentino-Alemana. I also chose this master’s degree because it gives me the opportunity to study and work in Germany.

What expectations did you have of the degree program and what makes it unique in your eyes?

I really liked the lecture topics and the teaching style at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. I feel that throughout the master’s program we learned to apply theoretical concepts to practical cases. These case studies from the classes are very useful for future work experiences.

Is there anything in your studies that is particularly memorable to you?

While writing my master’s thesis, I received tremendous support from my advisor. In my academic career, I have rarely had such an attentive, motivating and helpful advisor.

How did your studies and the required internship help you in starting your career?

The double master’s degree helped me a lot in getting a permanent position. As a result of globalization, international business has become an important component that now affects almost all small and large companies. Therefore, this master’s degree opens the doors to the working world in Germany and worldwide.
