Janine Bohlinger

Who are you and what company do you currently work for? And in what position (your responsibilities)?

My name is Janine Bohlinger and I am currently working for Michelin Reifenwerke AG & Co. KGaA as Regional Operation Manager for the region of Southern Germany, where I am responsible for the MICHELIN Services & Solutions division. In this area we handle the tire management of the vehicle fleet for customers with large fleets. As part of my job, I lead and coordinate a five-person team that ensures the quality of all services.

What is your bachelor’s degree in?

I have a bachelor’s degree in translation studies from Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg.

Why did you choose the Master’s in Franco-German Management?

I had already taken a lot of classes in business translation as part of my bachelor’s degree, which piqued my interest at the time, and I decided to pursue this path even further. In this regard, the Master’s in Franco-German Management offered exactly the right combination of languages and the acquisition of basic knowledge in the fields of marketing and business administration.

What expectations did you have of the Master’s in Franco-German Management? What makes this degree program unique from your point of view?

I was anticipating a successful start to my career thanks to the combination of theory and practice, as well as studying in two countries. This was confirmed after my final internship, which I completed at Michelin. After submitting my master’s thesis, I was immediately offered a permanent position.

Is there anything in your studies that has remained particularly memorable for you?

I particularly remember the project work in the French-German groups, which helped me significantly expand my intercultural skills. In addition, the good supervision of my master’s thesis also contributed to the fact that I will always have fond memories of my time studying in the Master’s in Franco-German Management program.

To what extent did your studies and the two required internships help you start your career?

The second required internship enabled me to seamlessly enter the workforce after my studies. Since I was already able to get to know Michelin during my internship, I could be sure that I had found the right employer for me.

Have you participated in alumni events as a student? What do you think of the degree program’s alumni network?

During the first year of my studies in Metz, there was an alumni event with former students. Thanks to the event, I gained a lot of confidence that the Master’s in Franco-German Management prepares you well for the working world and gives you the right qualifications.
