All partner universities of the School of Business

General Information

The brochure Paths Abroad is intended to help you with the preparation and planning of your stay abroad. There you will find answers to frequently asked questions and information about the partner universities of the School of Business.

If you have any further questions after reading this brochure, make a note of them and come to one of the informational events during the semester, which are explicitly also to be understood as question sessions. Many of your fellow students often have the same questions. So please do not hesitate to ask your questions.

The brochure and dates of the informational events can be found in OLAT under the heading International Office - Outgoing - Password: international.

Here you will also find the date of the "Paths Abroad" fair, which takes place every year in the winter semester - usually in mid-November. Many of the former 'outgoers' also take part in this fair, so you receive first-hand information about our partner universities. You should not miss this opportunity.

In addition, over the course of time we have collected a large number of experience reports. Write us a short e-mail naming the universities you are particularly interested in - we will then send you the corresponding reports.

If you still have unanswered questions after reading the brochure and attending our informational events, simply drop by the International Office during our office hours or make an appointment.

  • At least 80% of ECTS credits from semester 1 (for applicants in the 2nd semester) or 80% from semesters 1 and 2 (for applicants in the 3rd semester)

In the School of Business there is only one application deadline per year: the 15th of December of the previous academic year for applications in the following academic year. For example:

  • for the winter semester 2018/19: 15 Dec 2017
  • for the summer semester 2019: 15 Dec 2017

Applications for study placements at one of our partner universities abroad are submitted via Mobility Online. The link to the online form will be activated six weeks before the application deadline. Detailed information on the application procedure for Mobility Online can be found in the brochure "Wege ins Ausland" (Paths Abroad, only available in German) on page 4.

  5. Proof of additional language skills if you wish to study in France, Italy, Spain or Latin America

Please print out all documents, sign them if necessary and submit them to the International Office (room A1.12). Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Placements

The allocation of placements takes place for the winter semester at the end of January, and for the summer semester in June. You can find the exact dates for the allocation of placements in OLAT or as a notice on the board at the International Office.

The placement allocation session is a mandatory date. If, for very urgent reasons, you cannot be present, please inform Ms. Göbel at: ariane.goebel (at) hs-mainz.de

At the placement allocation session, you will find out which of our partner universities we can offer you a placement at. In addition, you will receive important information on the further application process, selection of classes and recognition.

Choosing classes

After your nomination to go abroad by our International Office, you will receive detailed information about the further application procedure and the classes offered by the partner university. Students of the degree programs Bachelor of Business Administration full-time and part-time will discuss their choice of classes and the respective possibilities for recognition at Mainz University of Applied Sciences with Ms. Göbel. Detailed information on the requirements for recognition can be found in the brochure "Paths abroad". It is important that the selection of classes be done before your departure.

Different regulations apply to students of all other degree programs. The possibilities of recognition must be discussed with the respective degree program supervisors.

Recognition

In general, the recognition of examinations taken at a foreign university is done via the International Office for all degree programs. Recognition must take place at the latest in the following semester - before the examination registration phase. Subsequent recognition is only possible for reasons for which you are not responsible. If you are taking the following semester off, this period is extended accordingly.

Please note:
Recognition after your return from abroad does not take place automatically. As soon as you have received the certificate from the foreign university, please book an accreditation date in the country of appointment (see OLAT) and come to the International Office in person. You will find detailed information on the conversion of grades in the brochure "Wege ins Ausland" (Paths Abroad, only available in German).
