On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the Department of Economics held a graduation ceremony for the class of 2024/25 in the Gutenberg Hall of the Rheingoldhalle. Approximately 1,000 guests attended the academic commencement ceremony, including graduates and their families, as well as representatives from the university and the business community.
At the event, students from 18 degree programs were honored for successfully completing their studies. The university’s president, Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman, congratulated the graduates on behalf of the university and wished them a successful start to their professional careers.
Karina Szwede, CEO of the Rheinhessen Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), served as the guest speaker. She highlighted the long-standing collaboration between the Rheinhessen IHK and the Department of Economics and encouraged the graduates to apply their professional skills responsibly in business and society.
The Dean of the Department of Economics, Prof. Dr. Hans-Christoph Reiss, praised the graduates’ achievements and described their degrees as the result of dedication, perseverance, and resilience. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of analytical skills, practical relevance, and a sense of responsibility in a dynamically changing work environment.
During the graduation ceremony, 15 outstanding graduates were also awarded cash prizes. In addition, the Department honored two particularly strong research theses and presented the Kurt Dörr Prize from the Alumni Association.
