Mareike Rabea Knevels, a research assistant in the Communication Design program, has been named the 2019 Castle Blogger. From her home at Sooneck Castle and a second residence below Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, she will spend half a year reporting on the Middle Rhine Valley, focusing on its residents, stories, and history—through both writing and photography. “I want to try to surprise and inspire the people in the valley with illustrations,” says Mareike Knevels, who grew up in the Hunsrück herself and sees this return as an opportunity to rediscover her homeland.
The Burgenblogger project was launched in 2015 by the Rhineland-Palatinate Development Agency, the General Directorate for Cultural Heritage, and the Rhein-Zeitung.
