A resounding success for two master’s students in International Business (MAIB) in the Department of Economics. Madina Ismailova and Jianglin Luo applied for one of the five scholarships offered by the Consortium of International Double Degrees (CIDD) with a video submission and took the top two spots. Madina Ismailova received the first prize, worth 1,000 euros, and Jianglin Luo received the second prize, worth 750 euros.
First Prize – Madina Ismailova
Madina Ismailova was awarded first prize for her outstanding video about her double-degree program at the University of Economics and Business in Prague and Mainz University of Applied Sciences. This top placement comes with a one-time scholarship of 1,000 euros. A native of Kazakhstan who is completing her master’s degree in International Business, she showcased both universities as well as the best aspects of the university towns in her video. After her time in Prague, she is now looking forward to getting to know Mainz and German culture. “Here, I can improve not only my professional knowledge but also my German language skills,” says the award winner. Madina also points out, with a twinkle in her eye, the special advantage of studying in different cities: “Studying at two universities means I have twice as many classmates and friends.”
2nd Prize – Jianglin Luo
Jianglin Luo is pursuing a Master’s in International Business as part of the double-degree program. Specifically, this means that as part of her studies, she will spend one year at the University of Economics and Business in Prague and another year at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. For her video submission about her double-degree program, the 28-year-old Chinese student was awarded second prize and received prize money of 750 euros. In her submission, Jianglin introduces the two study locations and provides insights into her personal development during her studies. The video she created is well worth watching and showcases various facets of her student life. It covers everything from the “academic knock” at the end of a lecture to Mainz Carnival. “I’ve made many friends from all over the world,” emphasizes Jianglin Luo, adding, “In Mainz, I’ve become more independent, more self-confident, and ready for my career. Thank you for that!”
CIDD is a network dedicated to promoting double-degree programs, of which Mainz University of Applied Sciences is a member. Once a year, five double-degree scholarships are offered to double-degree students at one of the network’s universities. This year, there were 22 applications, three of which were from Mainz University of Applied Sciences. A great result!
