Cyberattack at Mainz University of Applied Sciences

IT systems completely shut down as a security precaution

Based on current assessments, Mainz University of Applied Sciences has been the target of a cyberattack. As a security precaution, all IT systems were promptly and completely shut down on Monday, November 24, 2025, following initial indications of the attack. 

Most of the university’s services are currently unavailable. Classes are still being held in person as usual. 

IT Services is currently analyzing the threat and any potential damage that may have occurred. Law enforcement authorities are involved in the investigation. No information is currently available on how long services will be disrupted. 

The rapidly deployed crisis management team is working hard to make sure that students and staff of Mainz University of Applied Sciences are able to continue working. Students and staff will be continuously apprised of the latest developments through the Campus2Go app and the university’s main social media channels on Instagram and LinkedIn
