Mainz University of Applied Sciences has been the target of a cyberattack, according to current assessments. For security reasons, the IT systems were shut down completely and at short notice on Monday, November 24, 2025, following initial suspicions. Most of the university's services are therefore currently unavailable.
As a result, Mainz University of Applied Sciences is currently unreachable by email; all email addresses ending in hs-mainz.de are affected. Incoming messages are being delivered, but cannot be read or processed by staff and faculty. No automatic confirmation of receipt will be sent, and no out-of-office messages will be delivered.
In-person classes will continue.
The IT services are currently analyzing the threat and the potential damage. Law enforcement is involved. No information is currently available regarding the duration of the disruption.
The crisis team, which was quickly established, is working to ensure that students and staff at Mainz University of Applied Sciences can continue working.
Students and staff will be kept up-to-date via the Campus2Go app and the central social media channels Instagram and LinkedIn.
