On January 16, 2019, Digital Day took place for the fourth time. On this day, faculty members from Johannes Gutenberg University and Mainz University of Applied Sciences have the opportunity to learn about the opportunities and challenges of digital teaching and to discuss them with one another. This year’s focus was on the concept of “digital literacy,” and various program sessions explored the question of whether working with data constitutes a general cultural skill.
The “Teaching Ideas Network” project team has prepared a detailed event report for all faculty members who were unable to attend Digital Day this year. In addition to a description of the various program items and photographic highlights of the event, all keynote speeches and short presentations are also available as video recordings —for example, a presentation by Dr. Jens Heidrich (Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering) on “Approaches to Teaching Data Literacy in Higher Education” or short presentations by faculty members from the two universities in Mainz.
