This year as well, the university will turn off the lights on its Campus and in the LUX Pavilion on March 28, 2026 to send a message in support of stronger climate protection during this year’s Earth Hour. Both university locations are included on the digital Earth Hour map of Germany: www.wwf.de/earth-hour (located at the bottom of the website).
Earth Hour is a WWF campaign that calls on people around the world to make a greater commitment to a climate-just society, ambitious climate action, and strong democracy.
According to the WWF, this year could be one of the hottest on record. At the same time, however, the climate crisis is repeatedly pushed into the background in the face of other global challenges. With Earth Hour, the WWF aims to bring climate protection back into the public spotlight, and everyone can do their part here. WWF Germany’s motto this year captures that spirit: “Lights off to make a difference!”
For the 20th time, lights will be turned off around the globe from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 28th as a collective statement of support for the world’s largest campaign for effective climate and environmental protection.
Under the banner of “Lights off to make a difference!” you too can take a stand, as the WWF invites everyone to take part in Earth Hour.
