Film Award for "Bot"

Daniel Hoffmann, a graduate of the Master’s program in Media Design, has been awarded the prize from medien.rlp – Institute for Media and Education e.V. for his science fiction film “Bot.” The film received a grant from the Rhineland-Palatinate Film and Media Fund for Emerging Talent. After two days featuring eleven finalist films, screening_018—the film competition of the 35th video/film Tage—concluded on October 27 with a festive awards ceremony at the Neustadtzentrum in Mainz. Film discussions and a media education showcase—featuring screenings and discussions of films from filmcamp_018 and the media education award winners—rounded out the finale of the nationwide film competition. The special prize from the Rhineland-Palatinate State Agency for Political Education went to the documentary “Tracing Addai” by Esther Niemeier (nominated for the Student Oscar). Other winners included Arkadij Khaet with “Scheideweg,” Abini Gold with “Crossing Borders,” and Christoph Lacmanski with “Ionela.” The jury consisted of Prof. Melanie Beisswenger from Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the two Mainz-based filmmakers Michael Schwarz and Justin Peach. The screening at the video/film tage is funded by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Family, Women, Youth, Integration, and Consumer Protection and supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Agency for Political Education.
