Since 1946, the state capital of Mainz has awarded the Gutenberg Scholarship to promote education and teaching at Mainz’s universities. The scholarship recognizes completed projects that demonstrate exceptional academic, artistic, or professional achievement and whose subject matter is related to the city of Mainz.
The Gutenberg Scholarships are awarded annually around the time of Mainz’s Johannisnacht. In 2021, marking the 75th anniversary of the Gutenberg Scholarships, the following students were honored:
