International Kickoff

The first class of the new “International Business” degree program begins at the School of Business at Mainz University of Applied Sciences

With students from Australia, the U.S., Colombia, El Salvador, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Dubai, India, Spain, and various regions of Germany, a new chapter is beginning at Mainz University of Applied Sciences: The first cohort of the English-language Bachelor’s program in International Business (B.Sc.) at the School of Business has successfully launched.

A total of 19 students make up the pioneer group of this innovative program, which is unique in the Rhine-Main region due to its structure: Both international and German graduates are prepared together for the global German job market, with the necessary language instruction integrated as needed.

The six-semester Bachelor of Science in International Business provides a broad foundation in business administration with a strong international focus, thereby preparing students for challenging roles in companies with an international orientation. In addition to practice-oriented courses taught in English—and in the later semesters, also in German—students acquire intercultural competencies and foreign language skills. Since the program is designed for both German and international students, two tracks are offered, each specifically tailored to their respective needs.

The new program attracts students from all over the world to Mainz who envision their careers in Germany, thereby bringing diverse cultural perspectives and global experiences to campus, as is already evident from the first cohort.

“Our first International Business students are a great example of what internationalism in action can look like at Mainz University of Applied Sciences,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Hans-Christoph Reiss, dean of the department. “They bring the world right here to our School of Business—and, through international exchange, learn to navigate global markets with confidence.”

With this new program, Mainz University of Applied Sciences further strengthens its international profile and makes an important contribution to securing a skilled workforce in the Rhine-Main region and beyond.
