Fabian Naethbohm, a graduate of the Industrial Engineering (Construction) B.Eng. program, has been awarded the Karl Gemünden Prize for his bachelor’s thesis, which deals with the standardization of defect descriptions. The Karl Gemünden Climate Protection Prize was awarded to Mona Roßkopf, who, in her master’s thesis in the Civil Engineering program, examined the potential for green roofs and facades in downtown Mainz.
Each prize is endowed with €1,000. Eligible to participate were graduates of Mainz University of Applied Sciences who completed their bachelor’s or master’s thesis last year in the fields of Civil Engineering/International Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering in Construction, Construction and Real Estate Management, or Technical Building Management.
Along with Tim Gemünden, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Freiboth and Prof. Thomas Giel, who had supervised the theses, also celebrated with the award winners. Normally, the Karl Gemünden Prize is presented during the academic graduation ceremony of the Department of Civil Engineering at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the award ceremony took place this time at the “Hildegardis – Die Stadtoase” construction site.
