On May 15, the third Interior Design Day took place at Mainz University of Applied Sciences’ Holzstraße campus. The event kicked off with an exhibition of the works nominated for the Meerwein Prize in the foyer. In the afternoon, three alumni of the program gave presentations in which they shared their experiences following their studies in Mainz, both in their professional careers and in their continued academic pursuits.
Immediately afterward, the Meerwein Prize was presented to the winners by the jury and Gerhard Meerwein. The award recipients were Marianne Statt for her interior design “Schneider Recycling,” Sabrina Guschlbauer and Wiebke Westrich for the “Cone” lighting family, and Vera Krulitsch and Francois Flammang for “Lene.” The award ceremony also marked the launch of sales for the department’s yearbook, hot off the press.
The lecture series was rounded off by an engaging talk by Prof. Axel Kufus, who gave us insight into his work and his collaboration with students.
Afterward, the student council fired up the grill outside and set up a huge salad buffet, allowing the day to come to a relaxed close.
