To spark an interest in procurement among the next generation of leaders early on, the RheinMain Regional Board of the BME (Federal Association for Materials Management and Procurement) and the Department of Business Administration at Mainz University of Applied Sciences have founded a “student group.” Now, students can gain hands-on experience with a wide range of exciting tasks—from supplier sourcing and negotiation to digitalization in procurement—in volatile times shaped by AI, right at the heart of the industry. With a free BME membership and subsidized participation in BME events, their networking opportunities in the field of procurement are being fostered at the university, in the Rhine-Main region, and nationwide.
Already on the day of the kickoff (October 27), two female students are on their way to the “German-French Young Professionals Event in Strasbourg”—an opportunity created by the student group.
Group meetings may include field trips, lectures, or other formats that focus on purchasing, logistics, and SCM.
We’re delighted that Konrad Falldorf is the group’s first spokesperson. Together with Nico Reith as the student representative, Lu Höflein as the main contact at the BME, and Prof. Dr. Lydia Bals as the faculty advisor, the group has everything it needs to get started.
