Starting in the 2023–2024 winter semester, the Department of Economics will offer new specialization options within the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Management program, specifically in the newly established Supply Chain Management track.
As part of this, the new option “Digital Logistics and SCM” (Prof. Dr. Ulrich Berbner) will be offered for the first time in the upcoming winter semester. In this module, students will apply digital tools from the fields of data analytics and simulation using case studies to solve real-world problems in supply chain management. The practical focus is underscored by the involvement of industry partners. For example, in addition to a business simulation in cooperation with Stuttgart Airport, a guest lecture by the company Simplan is currently being prepared.
The “Sustainable Procurement” track (Prof. Dr. Lydia Bals) will follow in the summer semester of 2024 and will address the intersection of procurement and sustainability. Through case studies, students will acquire core competencies for sustainable procurement, for example, in the area of supplier management. Guest lectures from industry experts will highlight current developments regarding requirements and (technical and organizational) solutions for the challenge of implementing sustainable supply chains.
