Just in time for the exam weeks at the end of January, the first computer lab for the Applied Computer Science and Geodesy program is back in operation! IT Administrator Simon Metzger had developed a comprehensive list of measures in close coordination with the team led by Chief Information Officer (CIO) Prof. Dr. Karl-Albrecht Klinge and successfully implemented them as of January 7, 2026: “We’re not back to normal operations yet, but digital exams using the familiar software tools will resume immediately. Today we’re celebrating, and tomorrow we want to continue growing step by step.”
“The digital interfaces between the virtual and real worlds are largely shaped by our engineers in the fields of applied computer science, geoinformatics, and surveying —exams without modern digital tools would have been a serious setback for us,” says Department Chair Prof. Dr. Martin Schlüter, assessing this important recent step toward normalcy following the cyberattack in December 2025 and looking to the future: “Increasing resilience will remain a cross-cutting issue for Mainz University of Applied Sciences.”
