Info Day held in hybrid form at Mainz University of Applied Sciences

After two years of being held in a purely virtual format, the Info Day at Mainz University of Applied Sciences was held in person again for the first time and was very well received. Numerous online resources rounded out the on-site event. In total, around 1,000 visitors took advantage of the university's invitation. It was particularly pleasing to see that after a long period of Corona restrictions, our campus was filled with vibrant life amid the glorious spring weather.

True to the event’s slogan, Discover your possibilities, the three schools of Design, Engineering and Business presented themselves in a diverse and markedly communicative manner.

After being welcomed by the President, Professor Dr. Susanne Weissman, visitors had the opportunity to attend exciting presentations by the various schools in the Aula – on the potential of augmented reality in geoinformatics, on the revitalization of vacant properties based on the example of Mainz’s Neustadt district, or on how to obtain a bachelor’s degree in communication design, to name a few examples. Motivated students also provided insights into the work of AStA, department student councils and the student parliament.

Visitors following the colored markings in orange, magenta, green or white leading to the various exhibition areas and rooms of the schools discovered even more exciting things. There were architectural models to examine, new perspectives to explore using VR glasses, and comprehensive information about the dual and on-the-job degree programs in business administration. Prospective students were also given the opportunity to talk directly with students and professors about the many opportunities available at the university. The three degree programs of the School of Design – Interior Architecture, Communication Design and Time-Based Media – also invited students to attend portfolio consultations.

Food trucks offered snacks and coffee in the Campus courtyard, and many visitors, students and faculty took advantage of the opportunity and the beautiful weather to continue conversations outside with a salad, a burger or a waffle on a stick.

“We are very satisfied,” remarked Vice President Gregor Ade, who organized this Info Day with his communications team. “After all, we’ve changed quite a number of things, and we’ve also significantly expanded what we have to offer,” he explained. “Moreover, we were not certain whether there would be any interest at all in in-person encounters again after two years of virtual Info Days. So of course we are all the more pleased that so many people accepted our invitation.”
