At the start of the 2026 summer semester, Prof. Dr. Manfred Walser will assume the role of program director for the master’s program in Labor Law and Human Resources Management (LL.M.) from Prof. Dr. Katharina Dahm.
“I am looking forward to the exciting challenge of helping to shape such a high-quality program with highly motivated students, a great support team, and dedicated, renowned faculty members from both academia and the professional world,” says Prof. Dr. Walser upon assuming his new role.
He has been a professor of labor law and private commercial law for six years. In his research and teaching, he focuses in particular on issues of German and European labor and social law, as well as the resulting labor and economic relationships. He is co-editor of the journal *Soziales Recht*, author of numerous publications, and a member of the ifw’s academic advisory board.
He studied law at the University of Bremen, Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, and the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. After completing his studies, he earned his doctorate in labor law at Georg-August University of Göttingen.
Throughout his professional career, Prof. Dr. Walser has combined academic work with practical experience. Among other roles, he served as a research assistant at the universities of Göttingen and Hamburg, worked for the Liechtenstein government’s European law unit, and, prior to his return to the university, headed corporate communications at the Social Insurance Fund for the Construction Industry (SOKA-BAU) in Wiesbaden.
Drawing on his experience in both academia and practice, Prof. Dr. Walser will be responsible for the further development of the master’s program in Labor Law and Human Resources Management. “As faculty members in this program, our primary goal is to ensure that students are optimally prepared for their future careers in the numerous fields of labor law and human resources management,” Prof. Dr. Walser concludes.
