How can improved maintenance of bike paths increase the use of bicycles in everyday life? The “AllRad” research project at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, in cooperation with the cities of Mainz, Münster, and Munich, is investigating this question.
One component of identifying key areas for action in bike path maintenance is a nationwide survey on personal experiences with using bike paths. The survey is aimed at both people who cycle frequently and those who use bicycles only occasionally. The survey results will be incorporated into the development of effective measures to make the bike path network more attractive.
The nationwide online survey, which is open to participants from both the model municipalities and across the entire country, has already begun. Until December 13, 2020, participants can answer questions on various topics related to bicycle infrastructure and its maintenance to determine the need for bike path maintenance—such as cleaning, landscaping, and winter maintenance.
