Addressing social issues is one of the most important items on the agenda at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The University Executive Board has decided to actively encourage this by giving students, teaching staff, and employees the opportunity to attend the prestigious re:publica conference in Berlin. A total of 15 students, three professors, and three university employees have the opportunity to travel to Berlin in late May – supported by a travel grant set up specifically for this purpose. Participants will be selected by lottery to ensure equal opportunities.
re:publica offers a unique platform to shed light on current social and technological developments from different perspectives, providing valuable insights and opportunities, especially for students at universities of applied sciences:
Interdisciplinary perspectives
The conference covers a wide range of topics, from digital education formats to sustainability and artificial intelligence. This variety enables participants to look beyond the confines of their subject area and acquire new food for thought.
Practical relevance
Many of the featured presentations come directly from real-world professional contexts. Start-ups, non-profit organizations, creative professionals, and developers share their experiences and offer practical insights that can be of great benefit to the professional development of students.
Career orientation & networking
re:publica is a hotspot for networking. Stakeholders from business, research, and civil society convene here to exchange ideas and network. Attendees have the opportunity to make valuable contacts and find professional guidance.
Experience future trends
At re:publica, you can see how social change and digital innovation go hand in hand. Attendees can experience first-hand where their knowledge and skills will be in demand in the future.
Upon their return, the participants will act as multipliers and pass the ideas and impetus they have gained on to the university. As a result, not only the travel grant recipients themselves, but the entire university community will benefit from the experiences and insights gained at re:publica.
