"Untitled" – It needs a name!

The three degree programs—Interior Architecture, Communication Design, and Time-Based Media—in the Department of Design are coming together for the first time in an interdisciplinary exhibition.

From July 12 to August 9, 2019, LUX will host a “Best of Design” event showcasing the creative diversity of past semesters. But what’s missing is a—no, THE NAME! Currently listed as “untitled,” we’re looking for your idea on what this event should be called in the future—submit your suggestion by July 9, 2019 (10 a.m.) . Please send your name suggestion via email to untitled-gestaltung (at) hs-mainz.de . Here’s what to keep in mind when coming up with a name: What should an exhibition be called that will regularly showcase a “Best of” selection from interior design, communication design, and time-based media? Areas to explore and draw inspiration from:
  1. The name should reflect the aspect of the exquisite, the special selection
  2. The number three (three degree programs) is reflected in the name in some form
  3. An associative, somewhat free-form name that simply signals creativity and fun
  4. The fact that we’re exhibiting and showcasing our best work in the city could also be reflected in the name
  5. And the fact that this exhibition also represents a kind of conclusion or farewell for the students could play a role in the name
A word about acronyms and abbreviations: Names like ADAC, TÜV, AStA, BaföG, etc., are artificial terms. You can usually tell how they came to be—once you recognize that, the name loses its magic and becomes unappealing. In other words: You can sense the intention behind them, and it puts you off. So: probably not. The winner will receive—in addition to fame and glory—a surprise prize. Good luck! ;)
