Bernhard Schäfer, a lawyer from Mainz, has been appointed an honorary professor at Mainz University of Applied Sciences by Malu Dreyer, Minister-President of Rhineland-Palatinate. By conferring this honorary professorship, the Minister-President and Mainz University of Applied Sciences are recognizing Bernhard Schäfer’s many years of dedication to the architecture program at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, where he has served as a lecturer since the 2011–12 winter semester, teaching “Private Construction Law” and, since the 2016/17 winter semester, has also taught “Public Construction Law.”
Bernhard Schäfer has been admitted to the bar in Mainz since 1992 and is a recognized expert in all areas of private and public construction law. Since 1996, he has represented the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in litigation involving construction matters. In 1998–99, he worked for the State of Rhineland-Palatinate on the project for the Parliamentary and Ministerial Office Building in Mainz, providing support during the planning and construction phases. Since 2011, he has served as a lecturer on liability and construction law at the Allianz Insurance Broker Academy in Munich; since 2012, he has provided expertise on liability law, insurance concepts, and compliance for the State of Hesse, Regional Office Darmstadt.
On the occasion of the presentation of the certificate of appointment on October 11, 2018, the President of Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Muth, stated: “We are convinced that, in Mr. Bernhard Schäfer, we have gained an outstanding individual and a representative from our region who will champion the cause of our university. Our academic offerings are ideally enhanced by connections to the professional world, as additional expertise flows into the university alongside the diverse practical experience of our faculty and students.
