Graduation Ceremony

The Department of Economics Offers Virtual Congratulations

Today, November 14, 2020, we would love to have a few hours of normalcy back, because at 4:00 p.m., what would have been the crowning finale of many students’ academic careers would have begun: the academic commencement ceremony. This Saturday, we would have celebrated, laughed, and cheered the successful completion of their studies together with our graduates of the class of 2019/20 at the Electoral Palace in Mainz, alongside their families, friends, faculty, and staff.

But even though this year’s graduates won’t receive in-person congratulations on stage, the band won’t play, no speeches will be given, and no awards will be presented, this day is still a reason to celebrate. The class of 2019/20 is a special class! We’ve put together a congratulatory video to extend our best wishes to every graduate virtually.

542 bachelor’s and master’s graduates now have their university degrees in hand and are entering the professional world or continuing their education with a master’s program. No matter which path you choose, we wish you every success and all the very best for the future.
