This semester, we once again offered our welding class at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. In December 2022, interested civil engineering students were able to experience the true art of welding for themselves under the competent guidance of our workshop foreman, Christian Puntheller. In small groups, equipped with apron, work gloves, and welding helmet, many a meter of welding wire was used. True to the motto “Only when you weld the seam yourself does the engineering student become an engineer!”, our participants once again welded some great pieces together. We are always happy to offer our students the opportunity to try out the skilled craft of steel construction for themselves. The feedback was consistently positive, which means that we are now freshly motivated to tackle the theory of welding in the steel construction lecture in the final weeks of the semester.
Encouraged by the terrific feedback, we would like to launch a welding class in 2023 for other “interested welders” throughout the university.
