As part of the “Digital Image Analysis” module in the consecutive master’s program in Geoinformatics and Surveying, an annual field trip is organized to a company in the region that is relevant to the field. Thanks to the field trips initiated by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Boochs, students gain interesting insights into the companies, where they can also experience the concepts they have learned in practical applications.
This year’s excursion was hosted by Vitronic Dr.-Ing. Stein Bildverarbeitungssysteme GmbH. In addition to a tour of the company’s various departments and a presentation of its product portfolio, the technical presentations on Vitronic’s various research areas were of particular interest. The field trip was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Anita Sellent, who has been teaching at Mainz University of Applied Sciences since this semester, and by Songül Polat, a staff member at i3mainz.
Vitronic is a manufacturer of image processing systems based in Wiesbaden. Its system solutions are currently used primarily in the fields of transportation technology, logistics, photovoltaics, automotive, medicine and pharmaceuticals, packaging, and body scanning.
