After about two decades, 13 former students of the work-integrated degree program (BIS) returned to Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The purpose of their visit was to reminisce, reconnect with old friends, and get to know the current campus.
They had completed their studies at the university’s former location in Bruchspitze, Mainz-Gonsenheim. Consequently, they were very interested in learning about the developments at the university and in the Department of Economics.
Prof. Dr. Britta Rathle, an alumna and chair of Alumnity, provided insights into these developments. Personal conversations with Dean Prof. Dr. Hans-Christoph Reiss and the former program director, Prof. Dr. Kurt Koeder, rounded out the program. Prof. Koeder, who helped develop the program from the very beginning and led it for many years, also shared vivid memories from those early days.
Personal anecdotes—such as those about the former kiosk at the Bruchspitze campus, which many still vividly remember—made the event particularly memorable.
Most alumni now work in the banking, finance, or insurance industries, while some have also taken the leap into self-employment.

The BIS degree program was introduced in 1977 as one of the first of its kind in Germany and allows students to study while working.
