Prof. Dr. Lydia Bals was awarded the “Best Paper Award” at this year’s IPSERA Conference in Jönköping, Sweden. Her paper, “Reshoring for Sustainability: A Multi-Theory Decision-Making Framework,” was recognized as the best paper on the topic of sustainability. The paper presents a theoretically grounded decision-making model for relocating value-added processes (such as production or contract manufacturing) to other locations. It takes into account not only economic factors—which still dominate the literature—but also social and environmental aspects. While this paper presents a conceptual model, the next step will be a paper that includes empirical findings.
