The newly introduced right of universities in Rhineland-Palatinate to award doctoral degrees is a visible sign of the growing importance of research at universities of applied sciences. Now, the Department of Economics at Mainz University of Applied Sciences has set another example: The new series “Mainzer Schriften zum Wirtschaftsrecht” (Mainz Papers on Business Law) will publish high-quality articles on applied legal scholarship covering all areas of business law. The series is edited by Prof. Dr. Katharina Dahm and Prof. Dr. Manfred Walser.
Business law has a long tradition at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. It was the first university of applied sciences to offer such a degree program in the winter semester of 1993–1994. The first volume addresses a topic that is as socially and politically controversial as it is timely—from both an interdisciplinary and an international perspective: the issue of equal pay for men and women. The volume features contributions from female scholars in the fields of law and the social sciences, from both Germany and England. We hope you find this an engaging read!
