At the SM@RT DAYs held at the Sfax Digital Research Center, Prof. Dr. Hossein Arefi delivered a keynote presentation titled “Recent Advances in 3D Building Reconstruction and Modeling Using Remote Sensing Data,” in which he presented the latest developments and methods in 3D building reconstruction and modeling based on remote sensing data and discussed current research trends and potential applications.
This two-day event was aimed at doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers at the center and offered them the opportunity to present and discuss their current scientific work, progress, and research findings.

In addition, Prof. Dr. Arefi was invited to participate in a panel discussion on January 13. The discussion focused on successful scientific collaborations between African research institutions—particularly those in Tunisia—and European partners, with a special focus on Germany. Another key topic was how research projects within Tunisia can be successfully funded, both at the national level and as part of international collaborative projects.

He also held several meetings with Prof. Ahmed Fakhfakh, Director of the Sfax Digital Research Center; Prof. Abdelaziz Kallel, Head of the Remote Sensing Department; and Dr. Houda Chaabouni to discuss further opportunities for research collaboration as well as joint master’s and doctoral projects.
Participation in the SM@RT DAYs contributed significantly to strengthening scientific networking, exchanging experiences, and laying the groundwork for future joint research projects between Tunisian and European institutions. Thank you very much for the invitation to this interesting symposium!
